About the Tool

The Growthack Share of Voice for AI Overviews tool measures how present your brand is in Google's AI-generated answers. Enter the queries you want to win, add up to two competitors, and it checks each one live to show you:

  1. Your share of voice: how often you appear in the AI Overview across the queries that returned one, compared to your competitors

  2. Cited vs mentioned: whether you're linked as a source or named in the answer text, for every query

  3. How you're framed: for each brand that appears, an AI-assessed read of the narrative — whether you're positioned as the leader, the popular default, or the budget option, the sentiment, and the associations attached to you

  4. Who's winning AI visibility: the domains Google's AI cites most across your queries, which double as a target list of sites to earn placement on

How to Measure Share of Voice for Google AI Overviews

Step 1: Enter Your Brand

Add your domain, and optionally your brand name. The name helps the tool catch mentions in the AI answer text (for example "Rise at Seven" written with a space), not just links to your domain.

Step 2: Add Competitors (Optional)

Add up to two competitor brands, each with a domain and optional name, to compare share of voice side by side.

Step 3: Enter Your Queries

Add up to 10 queries, one per line. You'll get the most from recommendation-style questions a buyer would actually ask an AI assistant, such as "best", "top" or "recommended" prompts, where being named in the answer matters most.

Step 4: Measure and Act

Click Measure my share of voice. Review your share bars and framing, work down the query-by-query grid to see where you're missing, and use the most-cited domains as your placement target list. Export the full analysis as a CSV to take it further.

Additional Notes

  • Only queries that actually return an AI Overview count toward your share, since you can't appear in an answer that isn't shown. The tool tells you how many of your queries returned one.

  • The framing read is an AI interpretation of the AI Overview text where your brand appears. Treat it as a strong directional signal, not a precise measure.

  • Results are cached for up to 24 hours, so re-running the same inputs within a day returns the same snapshot instantly.

Does this measure ChatGPT, Perplexity and other AI engines?

No. This tool focuses specifically on Google's AI Overviews. AI search spans many engines and an effectively unlimited set of questions, so this is a focused, directional read rather than a complete picture of your AI visibility. Measuring across engines is exactly the kind of deeper analysis our team can run.

What's the difference between "cited" and "mentioned"?

Cited means your domain is linked as a source in the AI Overview. Mentioned means your brand name appears in the answer text without necessarily being linked. Both matter: being named in the answer shapes perception even when there's no link.

Why does it show how my brand is "framed"?

Because presence alone is misleading. Appearing in an AI answer as the premium leader is a very different result from being cast as the cheap alternative or being described negatively. The framing read shows how AI portrays you, so you can work to improve it.

How should I choose my queries?

Use the questions your buyers genuinely ask, especially recommendation-style prompts where a brand being named influences the decision. A focused, relevant set of queries gives a more useful read than a random broad one. Because the tool checks a sample you choose, treat the result as a signal to act on, not a definitive score.

Is my data saved?

No personal data is stored. The domains and queries you enter are used to fetch and analyse live AI Overview data, and that result may be cached briefly (up to 24 hours) to speed up repeat lookups, but nothing personally identifying is stored or transmitted.

Which AI engines does it check?

What’s the difference between the free and full report?
